College Football Picks Today: 6 Matchups to Watch Saturday, September 19, 2026

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2026

Saturday's ASA college football board features six matchups stretching from the noon window through late night. No. 2 Georgia opens SEC play at Arkansas, No. 6 Ohio State hosts Kent State, Arizona State and Kansas meet in London, and No. 3 Notre Dame renews its rivalry with unbeaten Michigan State.

ASA Betting Note: Saturday's board includes heavy favorites, conference road games, a neutral-site international matchup and a prime-time rivalry. Those games should not be handicapped the same way. The point spread, game environment and matchup determine value — not the ranking beside a team's name.

SEC OPENER

No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs at Arkansas Razorbacks

FEATURED NOON MATCHUP

Georgia at Arkansas

12:00 PM ET
ABC • Fayetteville

Georgia enters its first SEC game of 2026 at 2-0 after overwhelming Tennessee State 63-3 and Western Kentucky 70-20. The Bulldogs have scored at least 60 points in consecutive games for the first time since 1915.

Saturday provides a major change in environment. Georgia leaves Athens for its first road game and faces Arkansas in Fayetteville, where the Razorbacks will be trying to respond after a 43-10 loss at Utah.

Georgia has been extremely reliable in this particular situation under Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs are 10-0 in their first SEC road game of the season during Smart's tenure.

Georgia 2-0
The Bulldogs have produced 133 points through their first two games.
First Road Game
Georgia moves from two home games into an SEC road environment.
Arkansas Response
The Razorbacks return home after a difficult 43-10 loss at Utah.
What Matters Before Kickoff

Georgia's early dominance makes the Bulldogs easy to like, but large favorites are ultimately handicapped against the number rather than the opponent. Arkansas' ability to shorten the game, avoid turnovers and prevent explosive plays becomes critical if the Razorbacks are receiving a substantial number of points.

BIG TEN vs. MAC

Kent State Golden Flashes at No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes

NOON • OHIO STADIUM

Kent State at Ohio State

12:00 PM ET
FOX

Ohio State returns home Saturday to face Kent State after one of the biggest games of the early season, a narrow 24-23 loss at No. 1 Texas.

Kent State arrives with some positive momentum after rallying past Wofford. The Golden Flashes scored 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback.

The obvious talent difference makes Ohio State the clear public side, but games with very large spreads require a different handicap. The question becomes how long Ohio State's starters play at full intensity and whether Kent State can manufacture enough offense to stay within the available number.

Ohio State Response
The Buckeyes return home after losing by one point at Texas.
Kent State Momentum
The Golden Flashes produced a 22-point fourth quarter in their latest victory.
Large Spread
Game script and second-half personnel become increasingly important with a heavy favorite.
What Matters Before Kickoff

Don't confuse picking the winner with handicapping the spread. Ohio State can control the game comfortably without necessarily covering an inflated number. Evaluate the spread, projected possessions and potential second-half rotation before making the call.

UNION JACK CLASSIC

Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Kansas Jayhawks

INTERNATIONAL NEUTRAL SITE

Arizona State vs. Kansas

12:00 PM ET
London, England

Arizona State and Kansas meet in London for the inaugural Union Jack Classic, creating one of Saturday's most unusual handicapping environments.

Kansas is coming off a 38-21 loss to Missouri in the Border Showdown after opening the season with a dominant 51-6 victory over Long Island.

Arizona State also needs a response after falling 48-20 at Texas A&M. Both programs therefore enter London attempting to correct issues exposed in their previous game.

International games add another variable: travel, altered routines and a neutral-site environment. Those factors should be considered without automatically assuming they favor one side.

Neutral Site
Neither team receives its normal home-field environment in London.
Kansas Response
The Jayhawks are coming off a 38-21 rivalry loss to Missouri.
ASU Response
Arizona State looks to rebound after a difficult road loss at Texas A&M.
What Matters Before Kickoff

Avoid automatically assigning an advantage based on travel. Evaluate how each program structured its week, then focus on quarterback efficiency, turnover risk and which offensive line is better equipped to keep the offense on schedule.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON

Ball State Cardinals at Liberty Flames

NONCONFERENCE MATCHUP

Ball State at Liberty

4:00 PM ET
ESPN+ • Lynchburg

Ball State and Liberty enter Saturday at 1-1, giving this matchup a different profile from the ranked games dominating the rest of the board.

Ball State comes off an offensive breakthrough against Stony Brook. Quarterback Keldric Luster set a school completion-percentage record for a quarterback with at least 30 attempts and earned MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Liberty also enters off a victory, defeating Gardner-Webb in its home opener. The Flames scored on two of their first three offensive plays before needing a fourth-quarter touchdown to secure the win.

Ball State Offense
The Cardinals enter after one of their strongest offensive performances.
Liberty Home Field
The Flames remain at Williams Stadium after winning their home opener.
Both 1-1
Neither team's early record creates an obvious surface-level advantage.
What Matters Before Kickoff

Determine whether Ball State's offensive improvement is sustainable against Liberty's defense. For the Flames, efficiency and avoiding empty possessions matter if the market requires them to win by margin rather than simply win the game.

PRIME-TIME RIVALRY

Michigan State Spartans at No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

2-0 vs. 2-0

Michigan State at Notre Dame

7:30 PM ET
Notre Dame Stadium

Michigan State and Notre Dame renew their rivalry Saturday night with both programs entering 2-0.

Michigan State comes off a 35-7 victory over Eastern Michigan in which the Spartans scored 21 unanswered points after halftime. Notre Dame enters ranked No. 3 and returns home for another prime-time matchup.

The rivalry has extensive history, but Saturday's handicap needs to stay centered on the current teams. Michigan State faces its most significant test of the young season, while Notre Dame carries the expectations associated with being a top-three team playing at home.

Both Unbeaten
Michigan State and Notre Dame enter Saturday with 2-0 records.
Spartans Step Up
Michigan State moves from Eastern Michigan to a top-three opponent on the road.
Notre Dame Price
Top-ranked home teams frequently command a substantial market premium.
What Matters Before Kickoff

Michigan State needs to prove it can consistently sustain drives against a major step up in competition. For Notre Dame bettors, the issue is not simply whether the Irish are superior — it's whether the point spread properly reflects that advantage.

BIG TEN AFTER DARK

Purdue Boilermakers at UCLA Bruins

BIG TEN OPENER

Purdue at UCLA

11:00 PM ET
Rose Bowl • Pasadena

Saturday's ASA board finishes in Pasadena as UCLA hosts Purdue in its Big Ten opener.

UCLA enters looking for its third consecutive victory, while Purdue makes its first road trip of the season after suffering a double-overtime loss to Wake Forest.

That creates an interesting contrast. Purdue has to recover emotionally and physically from an extended game before traveling west, while UCLA stays home and enters with positive momentum.

The late kickoff also creates a different routine for Purdue, with the game beginning at 11 p.m. Eastern time.

Purdue Travel
The Boilermakers make their first road trip and travel across multiple time zones.
UCLA Momentum
The Bruins enter attempting to win their third consecutive game.
Recovery
Purdue must regroup after playing a physically and emotionally demanding double-overtime game.
What Matters Before Kickoff

Travel and scheduling deserve consideration, but don't turn them into automatic betting systems. Determine whether Purdue can establish offensive consistency early and whether UCLA's recent improvement is strong enough to justify the available home price.

ASA SATURDAY STRATEGY

Six Games — Six Different Handicapping Situations

Heavy Favorites

Kent State-Ohio State is about margin, possessions and game script — not simply identifying the likely winner.

Conference Road Games

Georgia's first SEC road test requires evaluating how Arkansas can alter tempo and field position in Fayetteville.

Neutral-Site Travel

Arizona State-Kansas introduces international travel and an unusual routine without automatically creating an edge for either side.

Market Price

Notre Dame, Georgia and Ohio State will attract public attention. Strong teams still need the right number to become strong bets.

FINAL SATURDAY CHECK

Check Friday night and Saturday morning injury updates, quarterback availability, weather and current point spreads before finalizing the card. College football numbers can move materially as availability information reaches the market.

ASA PREMIUM BOARD

Six Matchups to Analyze — Only the Best Need to Make the Card
