College Football Picks Today: 7 Matchups to Watch Saturday, September 12, 2026
Saturday's ASA college football board runs from two major noon road tests through a late-night SEC-Big 12 matchup in Salt Lake City. No. 6 Oregon travels to Oklahoma State, No. 11 Oklahoma visits Michigan, No. 12 Alabama heads to Kentucky, Arizona challenges No. 15 BYU, Memphis visits Boise State, Bowling Green travels to Nebraska and Arkansas closes the board at No. 20 Utah.
Seven Saturday Matchups on the ASA Radar
Oregon-Oklahoma State & Oklahoma-Michigan
No. 6 Oregon Ducks at Oklahoma State Cowboys
Oregon goes on the road for the first time in 2026 after surviving a competitive opener against Boise State. Saturday is also the Ducks' first trip to Stillwater in program history.
There is an unavoidable revenge narrative surrounding this matchup. Oregon destroyed Oklahoma State 69-3 in Eugene last season, the largest victory over a Power Four opponent in Ducks history. This time Oklahoma State gets Oregon at Boone Pickens Stadium for the first home game of the Eric Morris era.
The handicap should not begin with the assumption that last year's 66-point margin will repeat. Oregon remains the higher-ranked program, but the location, new Oklahoma State staff and market adjustment all change the equation.
Separate last year's blowout from this year's number. Oregon's talent advantage matters, but so do a noon Eastern kickoff, its first road environment and the size of the point spread. A superior team can still be overpriced.
No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners at Michigan Wolverines
Oklahoma heads into one of college football's most demanding road environments for a noon matchup at Michigan Stadium. Unlike games where one team owns an obvious talent advantage, this matchup demands closer attention to line play, quarterback efficiency and field position.
The Big House adds a meaningful situational component for Oklahoma's first major road test. Michigan, meanwhile, has the opportunity to measure itself against a ranked SEC opponent on its home field.
Watch the injury reports and the final spread. If the market moves significantly toward the ranked road team, determine whether Oklahoma's underlying advantage is large enough to justify paying that premium in Ann Arbor.
Alabama-Kentucky & Arizona-BYU
No. 12 Alabama Crimson Tide at Kentucky Wildcats
Alabama travels to Lexington for an early SEC road test after opening the season with a convincing victory over East Carolina. The Crimson Tide scored 48 points in that opener, but conference road games require a different level of execution.
Kentucky's opportunity is to make the game uncomfortable early and prevent Alabama from dictating pace. For bettors, however, the central question is not simply whether Alabama is the stronger roster. It is whether the point spread properly prices that advantage away from home.
Evaluate Kentucky's ability to limit explosive plays and stay ahead of the chains. If Alabama is laying a substantial road number, finishing drives and maintaining margin become as important as simply controlling the game.
Arizona Wildcats at No. 15 BYU Cougars
Arizona and BYU enter Saturday at 1-0 for an early Big 12 matchup in Provo. BYU gets the benefit of LaVell Edwards Stadium, while Arizona faces its first road assignment of the season.
Because both teams have only one 2026 game available for evaluation, bettors need to be careful about drawing sweeping conclusions from opening-week statistics. Saturday should reveal much more about how each program matches up against conference-level competition.
Look beyond the rankings and opening-week box scores. Quarterback efficiency, offensive-line performance and Arizona's ability to operate on the road should matter more than one-game statistical averages.
Memphis-Boise State & Bowling Green-Nebraska
Memphis Tigers at Boise State Broncos
Memphis arrives in Boise at 2-0 for one of Saturday's most interesting non-Power Four matchups. Boise State is 0-1, but that record requires context: the Broncos opened at Oregon and pushed the Ducks before falling 34-27.
Memphis has already produced two victories, while Boise gets its home opener on the blue turf after surviving one of the toughest opening assignments on its schedule. That makes raw win-loss records particularly misleading here.
Do not price Boise State like a typical 0-1 team without accounting for opponent strength. At the same time, Memphis' 2-0 start provides a larger current-season sample. The market's adjustment for each record is the key.
Bowling Green Falcons at Nebraska Cornhuskers
Bowling Green travels to Lincoln for the first meeting between the two programs. It is also the Falcons' first football game ever played in the state of Nebraska.
Nebraska enters 1-0 after beating Ohio 49-21 in its opener. Bowling Green arrives at 0-1 under head coach Eddie George and faces a substantial step up in environment for its first road game of the season.
This matchup may produce a large spread. That makes Nebraska's ability to create separation and maintain offensive efficiency more important for ATS bettors than simply projecting the outright winner.
Arkansas at No. 20 Utah
Arkansas Razorbacks at No. 20 Utah Utes
Saturday's featured slate closes in Salt Lake City, where Arkansas travels to face No. 20 Utah at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Utah enters with current-season information already available, including quarterback Devon Dampier leading the passing attack. The Utes also get one of college football's stronger home environments for an SEC-Big 12 matchup that kicks off late in the Eastern time zone.
Arkansas' challenge is not simply dealing with Utah's personnel. The Razorbacks must handle the road setting, elevation and a late kickoff while remaining efficient enough offensively to avoid putting their defense in repeated short-field situations.
Monitor player availability and the market through Saturday. Home-field reputation can create its own premium at Utah, so the question is whether the matchup advantage remains large enough after the spread fully prices Rice-Eccles into the number.
Four Rules for a Seven-Game Saturday Board
Don't Chase Rankings
Five teams on this board are currently ranked. Rankings help describe perception, but the point spread already incorporates public expectations.
Don't Overreact to Week 1
Early-season results provide valuable information without defining a team's entire season. Opponent quality and game context still matter.
Respect Road Environments
Stillwater, Michigan Stadium, Boise, Lincoln, Provo and Rice-Eccles each create different situational challenges that belong in the handicap.
Bet the Number
The goal is not identifying seven winners. The goal is finding the games where ASA's matchup evaluation differs enough from the market to create value.
Re-check injuries, quarterback availability, weather and the latest point spreads before kickoff. Early-season information can change quickly, and even a strong matchup opinion can become unplayable if the market moves beyond the value.
Seven Games to Analyze — Not Seven Games to Bet
ASA evaluates the entire Saturday board but does not force a selection simply because a game is nationally televised or features a ranked team. Premium selections are reserved for matchups where the side, total or moneyline meets ASA's handicapping and price requirements.
